Let's Geek Out!
Warning today's post contains personal information and is not fashion related! Enjoy?
As I have mentioned before on this blog, I love nerdy things. However, I never mentioned why. Moving across the country in the middle of high school paired with a terrible mindset caused me to find myself utterly friendless for quite some time. Like so many others I found solace in the so-called nerd culture. Doctor Who, Harry Potter, Team Starkid, J.R.R. Tolkien, A Song of Ice and Fire/ Game of Thrones, Sherlock, you name it I loved it.
After my junior year of high school I was lucky enough to attend my second convention, LeakyCon. After a year of hating everyone and everything in my general vicinity this Harry Potter based convention was much needed and appreciated. LeakyCon was one of the happiest times in my life. I went from having zero friends to being surrounded by them. The feeling of being surrounded by people who feel so strongly about something that you do as well is just pure joy. If you are a nerd I highly recommend you attend a convention. It takes the loneliness away from the nerdiness, which sadly often go together. Also I have never found such open and friendly people than at a con. Unlike everyday life, everyone speaks to everyone and is pleased to do so.
I bring this up today because I am currently attending my first convention in three years, Con of Thrones. If you read this post within the next two days just know, I'm in my happy place. Also if you're as pumped for season seven as I am- let me know!!
Of course to go along with today's nerdy post are some nerdy pictures. If you're a fan of Game of Thrones hopefully you've seen the newest season seven posters which feature the main characters as White Walkers. I thought these posters were super cool and I also coincidentally happen to have a super talented best friend. Keldon is a real life wizard for turning me into a Westerosi and I am forever grateful. Keldon also took these awesome photos in one of my favorite shirts that reads "all men must die" in High Valyrian. Seriously go check out Keldon's Instagram- it's a good time.
